Our Programs

Senior Session
90 high-school-aged musicians are challenged by a variety of repertoire during six weeks of chamber music, orchestra, and group and individual instruction. The experience is one of community, shared learning, and mutual support in which friendship and encouragement are always present.  Co-Directors Tony Mazzocchi and Deborah Buck lead a faculty of professional musicians who specialize in working with talented and dedicated young people. Junior Session
Each year 70 middle school-aged musicians take part in Junior Session. Students are selected based on audition, but once admitted the competition ends. Co-directed by Sandy Dennis and Marty Knieriem, our dedicated faculty of professional musicians works to match students with chamber groups and orchestral repertoire that challenge and delight them. Learn More

Young Artist Seminar
Open to pre-formed groups as well as individual players (ages 18-28), the Young Artist Seminar provides an opportunity for intensive study and performance of chamber works. Each chamber group studies one work during the week-long program and receives daily coachings from our faculty, many of whom come from the roster of the Kinhaven Senior Session. The week culminates in outreach concerts in Southern Vermont as well as in our own concert hall and the final concert also features our conductor-less chamber orchestra and chorus.  The program is directed by Adam Grabois, who has been committed to creating a program with the greatest artistic and educational benefit, and one squarely in line with Kinhaven’s core values.  Learn More

Adult Chamber Music Workshop
Open to string, wind, and piano players who are college age or older, the Chamber Music Workshop emphasizes supportive music making among players of all levels and experience.  Co-Directors Alberto and Naho Parrini, with their team of professional musicians, match chamber groups with repertoire prior to arrival so participants, who are assigned to two groups, have an optimal music making experience. Adult Piano Workshop
Focusing on four-hand piano repertoire, the Piano Workshop is open to intermediate to advanced level pianists, college age or older. Participants are paired, and four-hand repertoire is chosen by each duo or assigned by the faculty, led by workshop Director Leander Bien. Learn More
